Daryl A. Davis is (DAD) and I have worked with wood off and on for over 30 years in one form or another. Like all kids, I took shop in school for 6 years. Then I got my first craftsman job at a company that designed and built museum display cases, gun display cabinets, and other furniture out of wood and acrylics. Then after several years of traveling with work and being very busy, I started making the cedar chests and rocking horses for DADWOOD. From there it went to other types of furniture that I designed or someone had a plan for me to use. And I have to say, no shop is complete without a big lathe. Also I do all my design work in AutoDesk Inventor, a 3d modeling program and my V.A.R. is Total Cad Systems, who provide great service.
Our Mission To make the best pieces we can and to treat every piece as a work of art.
Products and Services Overview All of our products are handmade from our shop. Nothing is subcontracted out to other craftsmen.
Company Story Dadwood works out of a shop that is air-conditioned for the Houston heat. We have a large inventory of tools needed to do the right job for you. There aren't many items that we cannot make. I have taken classes from master craftsmen from all over the world, such as Richard Rafflen, a world renowned wood turner; Robert Hensarling, who instructed me on the rocking chairs; Bill Berry; Thomas Irvin; and Steve LeGrure from The Cutting Edge all, of whom are fine wood turners. It was a pleasure to learn from people such as those above.
